Lactulose can be taken fo CKD patient

My father in law is already taking medicine for CKD and hypertension. He is presently facing constipation problem. Whether lactulose can be taken to get rid of constipation without having any side effects?

Lactulose can rarely cause electrolyte imbalance if patient develops diarrhea. Else he should be fine, taking lactulose. Stop if patient develops diarrhea.
