Lactose intolerant diarrhea
My son has got diarrhea due to some infection.. After giving enterogerminia and taxim o forte to him for a couple of days. During that period i was asked by my doc to stop dairy products for a short period of time and The situation has got resolved but after two days when i started giving milk to him again. Suddenly he started passing foamy and forthy motions.. He was not lactose intolerant from beginning.. How should i treat him now.. Please do help me

Stop milk and it's products.. Give zinc syp for 14 days....continue probiotics for couple of days more...

Dr Reddy said it correctly. It takes 2 weeks for the intestinal epithelium to heal.

Give ZnD(20) drops (dose will depend on the age- < 6 months : 0.5ml , >6months : 1ml ) once a day for 14 days to help the gut heal faster And if the baby cannot do without milk u can give lactose free milk ( zerolac / isomil)

It is secondary lactose intolerance. It is a temporary condition and requires time. Till then no milk or milk products. Give plenty of water.

Next Steps
If baby is passing 3-4 stools, not crying and hydration adequate, then nothing to worry. You can continue milk products too but if loose stools increase, then reduce milk.

It will take some days for the gut to recover.. so avoid milk for 1 or 2 more week and restart again.
