Hello !! We need to first ascertain under examination that if she has any nerve compression and is back pain more than leg pain or both are present in equal amount . MRI will decide whether surgery is required and if there is any nerve root compression. Usually in listhesis back pain is more and requires a spinal fusion surgery . Yes MRI is mandatory to decide treatment. Until then , wearing a LS belt and avoiding back extension and forward bending will help reduce symptoms. She will also require some painkillers to cope up with the pain till then.
Next Steps
MRI , LS belt , avoid back extension flexion , pain management
