Dear Madam,
Physiotherapy post total knee replacement is provided in 3 phases, early phase, intermediate phase and later phase. Exercises vary depending on the existing range of motion, strength, pain and swelling. We need to evaluate your grand mother and advise accordingly, the exercise programme and safety guidelines on how to walk with the help of walker, stair climbing with elbow crutches, sitting to standing and vice versa, pain management, swelling control. And at about 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months, she will be comfortable. Apart from this, we need to assess other associated health problems if any, her age, and her prior physical activity level and prescribe exercise accordingly depending on the functional goals you are looking for. Definitely we can help your grand mother once we evaluate.
Regards,
Dr.Sushmaja
