Knee replacement
Hello to all the respected doctors here. My mother has arthritis since very long and someone suggested us to get her knee replaced at Shalby hospital, Ahmedabad. Does anyone here knows about it? Many are saying that it's a very good hospital with a 98% success rate. I am not sure if this is really true..please help me with this if anyone knows about this hospital, cost of the procedure and whether it is reliable or not? There is also a newly opened branch of shalby located here in Lucknow at IIM road. I don't know if it's the same or not? Pls tell if someone knows about Shalby and it's branch at Lucknow.

Dear,
Firstly , I would suggest you to get Knee replacement only when the patient is ready for it as it requires a good post operative rehabilitation.
Secondly, get it done only when patient has symptoms such as severe pain, difficulty in walking etc clinically.
Not just a X-ray picture is suggestive of arthritis.
Third, select a doctor first whom you want to do a surgery and then decide hospital.

Shalby hospital is one of top hospital in India for joint replacement . Main branch is in Ahmedabad.
Success rate not only depend on hospital and surgeon , it also depends on patient factors .
Yes thy have recently opened a branch in Lucknow .

Knee Replacement done with any Speciality Knee Surgeon will give you good results. There is nothing like only Shalby or any other big hospitals will give good results. Surgeons operating in Shalby hospitals are different in different cities. It is worth operating in Shalby only if you are getting operated by stalwart, Dr. VIKRAM SHAH or else its the same. There are many successful and legendary surgeons like him in different cities all over India. Search for a good knee surgeon that follows all the standard protocols of surgery in your city and get it done. Patient will be fine.
