Keratosis obitarans
Hello, i was diagnosed with keratosis obutarans when i was 18 and have been getting my ears cleaned every 6-8 months but the process is really painful and i often get fever after the cleaning. Is there any other treatment for this apart from that intense cleaning which always painful.

Use ear drops. Like waxrid removax which will soften the wax atleast 4 times daily before going for cleaning. The doctor can use local xylocaine drops or spray to numb that area

Using wax softeners can help prevent hard wax formation. A narrow ear canal is the reason you are prone for keratosis obturans. Wax is sweat and sebum accumulation in the ear canal and wax naturally egresses out from a wide normal ear canal. A narrow ear canal is prone to formation of impacted wax/ keratosis obturans and hence the need for regular canal cleaning. A permanent solution to this would be a canalplasty procedure— where a hand drill is used to widen the ear canal
