Jaundice 1 month old baby
Hello My son is 1 month old. He had phototherapy on day 10 and since then his bilirubin value is still 8.4. The value is not decreasing from 8.4 As per advise of Pediatrician, we had been giving him gardenal syrup for 5 days now. What can be done further. If the level of unconjugated bilirubin continues at 8.4, is it risky for him. His date of birth is 22 August and birth weight is 2.1 kg born at 36 weeks. Present weight is 2.6 kgs ... mostly breastfed .

It may take time for the levels to Come down in few children. If clinically stable can wait n watch, there are few rare conditions but unlikely if the child is clinically good.
