My mother complains of itch in her throat and she coughs whenever she eats something. It is dry cough. There is no pain or visible swelling. Do I need to consult an ENT doctor or a general physician?

Itchy throat can be due to Allergy to some food or Gastritis or Any other obvious chronic infection.

Next Steps

Antiallergic medicine. PPI for Gastritis. Fibre optic Laryngoscopy for evaluation of any other obvious cause.
