Itchy, hair fall
Hi doctor, My name is Arun (26 years). I've been suffering from hair loss from a year long and I've been in a treatment of herbal. I've a itchy and oily scalp. Doctor has been advised head and shoulders shampoo Daily and Candid tv twice in a week. My hair gets oily within few hours even after shampooing daily and itchy too. Doctor told me it's because of heredity. But my father and grandfather started loosing their hair in their 50's. I've quite thin hair and scalp is visible slightly on crown area. And I sweat a lot on head upon that oily and itchy scalp. My herbal treatment is like a liquid which needs to be taken orally and no external application. Now when I shampoo daily I can see around 20 hair strands. Please advise

Hi. Hairfall in young men could be patterned or unpatterned and either related to external causes or genetically pre-programmed as in the case of androgenetic alopecia. You may be suffering from early onset androgenetic alopecia. Does your father or brother or maternal uncles have balding? This could genetically predispose you to balding. Further environmental factors , pollution, stress, junk food and poor diet could cause you to lose hair further. You'll probably need treatment with hair care lotions or serums - something that has vasodilator properties and improves thickness of hair and reduces hair loss. Have a good balanced nutritious diet. Yes your hair density can be restored if you take timely treatment and care of your hair. If you have dandruff also, you'll need an antifungal shampoo – applying oils may worsen dandruff. See a qualified dermatologist near you. Hope this helps. Caution: Make sure you see a qualified MD / DNB/ DVD dermatologist for all your skin and hair issues. Don’t be lured in by quacks. Know your treating doctor/ discourage quackery!Warm regards, Dr Govind Suresh Mittal. Bengaluru
