Is Varicella vaccine safe for babies?
Why should we give Varicella vaccine to 15 and half months old baby when this Vaccine is not a part of National Immunization Scheme? Which brands of Varicella vaccine are recommended for babies in India?

There are few illness that can be prevented via vaccinations but still not included in NIS ! Varicella vaccine is one among them ! It prevent from chicken pox in childhood and shingles in adults ! Other few vaccines includes gardenal /typhoid/influenza !! Varicella most common brands available is variped !

Varicella vaccine prevents Chicken pox and Zoster also later in life .Many vaccines available do not find place in NIS , mostly because of cost and other reasons not known.  Prevention is always better whenever possible. Many brands are available, can be discussed with your  pediatrician in private.
