Is this really normal or look cancerous
38 years old. Non smoker and non drinker   I have the bulgy lump and red color patches on both sides of the tongue. Having this for an year now. Went to the dentist when this started in March 2023. He said it's normal and I left it like this. Didn't see any Dr after that. I have the same till now and it hurts painful and feels sore. So went to another new dentist yesterday. He checked the tongue and said it's normal. But I took some pictures and it looks like bulgy lump and red patches. Does it look normal? I asked this earlier and few Practo dentist said it's not normal and need to be biopsied. But the dentist whom I saw clinically dismissed and didn't refer me to Oral surgeon. Do I need to evaluate further? Do I need to see an ENT?whether this looks normal? Is this bulgy lump and red skin patches( looks like skin peeled on the tongue)look normal? I had a small white growth which I had biopsy in May 2023 which came out as squamous papilloma. Does this also any HPV? Thanks.

Next Steps

Hello Ma'am, It is always better to be sure that we don't have anything rather than making an assumption. It does look something different than normal appearance. You can visit an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon to get it checked and biopsied. Treatment if at any required can be done after the reports come back.
