There was this playful dog near a place and people were playing around it , it came near me and I got startled and it was coming close to me and I went away. I'm sure it didn't bite me but I'm skeptical about a scratch as after sometime when I went to check there was a small dot 1 milli meter size like a pen dot on my ankle and I'm sure I didn't get but but what if the puppy scratched
Does this count as an exposure

Based on your description, this does not sound like a rabies exposure.
Key points:
• You are sure there was no bite.
• You only noticed a tiny 1-mm dot later, not immediately.
• No clear memory of a scratch, pain, bleeding, or broken skin at the time.
• The dog was playful, not aggressive.
For rabies transmission, there must be:
• A bite, or
• A scratch that breaks the skin and causes bleeding, or
• Saliva entering an open wound or mucous membrane.
A small dot noticed later without any definite scratch or bleeding is not considered a rabies exposure.
This situation fits Category I (no exposure), which means:
• No vaccine is required.
Next Steps
1. Wash the area with soap and water once, even if it looks minor.
2. Observe the area:
• If there is no wound, no bleeding, and no scratch mark, no action needed.
3. No rabies vaccine is required in this situation.
Health Tips
• Rabies spreads through direct saliva contact with broken skin.
• Intact skin, tiny dots, or marks without bleeding are not exposures.
• Avoid over-examining skin after such incidents, as normal pores or marks can be mistaken for scratches.
From what you’ve described, there is no cause for concern, and you are safe.

As rabies is prevalent in dogs you should get vaccinated.
As per description of you exposure should be considered as a grade 2 dog bite.
You will need 4 doses of vaccine.
it does not seem like there is a significant exposure
but to be on safer side if u have any doubt better to visit a centre next to you and get vaccinated
No, this does NOT count as a rabies exposure.
A tiny 1 mm pen-dot–like mark noticed later, without bleeding or pain, is not typical of a dog scratch or bite.
