Is saliva transmitted HIV on open wounds
Hello Dr. my cousin is hiv positive from may be 9 years and he is on treatment. My question is we both were going on the bike and he was driving when he was telling me something I feel some drops of saliva on face And one drop I feel on my tongue. This was 50/50 I just feel that moment saliva touched my tongue. And I have also cold sores in my neck on that day. I am just worried about it that one drop of saliva can spoil my whole life.

There are minimal chances of it being transmitted in that manner, but there is a chance so you can do a HIV 4th generation ELISA test if it happened within 28 days orelse you'll have to wait until after 90 days of exposure to get an accurate investigation.
