Dies storing foods and beverages in plastic-ware increase the risk of cancer? I have read articles in news that say storing hot food in plastic-ware adds carcinogenic chemicals to the food.

The evidences are inconclusive. The chance are that the plastic residues may leach into food when hot food is packed or microwaved in it. But microwave safe and food grade plastic can be used safely.
