Almost all the mental illnesses run in families but having a mental illness doesn't make you prone to it.Having no history of mental illnesses doesn't make you immune aswell.Any one is susceptible to it

There are some mental illnesses which run in the family but majority are not.
It does not mean that anybody with genes for a mental illness will get affected.
