Is air travel safe in 29 week pregnancy
My wife is 26 week pregnant now and after lockdown she will be around 29 week. We are planing to go our hometown which is 2 hours flight. By road it takes around 30+ hours. Our priority is to travel by flight. So is it safe for her to travel by flight at 29 week pregnancy? There is no any complications in pregnancy.

Hello, usually airlines allow travel upto 34-36 weeks if everything is normal and no complications are there. Discomfort during flight increases with the pregnancy duration and length of flight. So you need to get examined by gynaecologist and get approval for travel. Make sure your wife stays hydrated during the flight, avoid food that can result in gastric discomfort or gas formation. Ask her to flex ankles every now and then to ensure proper blood circulation in the legs. Aisle seats are usually preferred as it's easier to head for washroom and take little walks in the lobby. Keep medications for nausea and acidity. Seats over wings are the least jerky and will be most comfortable for her.
Next Steps
physical examination by gynaecologist for review of any complication.
Health Tips
Ensure hydration and avoid gassy food before flight. Take care.
