She is having periods in a 3 months gapping.. is this a major problem after 40?? Or its the menopause....

You are probably reaching menopause. The altered blood flow is because of hormonal changes
Next Steps
you should get an yearly ultrasound done because there are some hormone dependent tumors which start growing at this stage.if detected early,they can be dealt with in a better manner. all the best

Hi there...this is Dr Harsha from bangalore answering your question and I understand your concern and anxiety...as for your age you are in pre menopausal period missing periods for months is normal in this period...In this age group, irregular spotting to heavy bleeding occurs in some women. It may be due to hormonal imbalance, caused by dysfunction of ovary without ovulation leads to progesterone deficiency...if you come across such situations coming nearest gynecologist.
