Inflammation of palate

Asked for Female, 55 Years

Getting dental implants fixed. During the process bcoz of anaesthetic injections swelling of gums & upper region of tongue. Taking only cold water & icecreams. Can you pl suggest some medicine to get rid off this inflammation.

These findings can occur due to tongue biting or any traumatic injury before the effect of local anaesthesia wears off. These kind of injuries usually take 7 to 10 days for healing without any medication, if the patient maintains good oral hygiene so that secondary infection due to plaque accumulation does not take place. Warm saline rinses multiple times in a day can also be beneficial, without any side effects. And all these are tentative suggestions based on your description and without a look at the clinical condition. If these simple remedies do not relieve you of your symptoms in the mentioned time period please contact your dentist so that the appropriate medications can be given to you. Regards.
