Usually in low risk cases .,if is term and even after EDD labour pains does not occur they induce labour . It is not harmful to the baby or the mother as both of you will be under strict observation .

No . Induction of labour is not harmful in all instances . Your doctor usually decides what is the best time to induce you and whether it is safe for you and the baby .
In some cases you have to wait for labour to start
Again it can be tried if baby and mother is well
Else have to go for C section in case of any complications
If you are beyond your expected date of delivery or you have high BP or Diabetes or if baby is not growing properly Induction is helpful for maternal and fetal indications
