My friend overdosed on 8000mg of ibuprofen last month. She's fine at the moment but wants to see a doctor here in North Carolina to get a check up because she knows that there could be long term damage. But she's worried that they would keep her on a 72 hour watch (something she has had before) for attempted suicide even though it was over a month ago. She is seeing a therapist now. So basically my question is, would they send her somewhere for a 72 hour watch under the circumstances?

My dear friend, no need to worry, it's before one month. Then its ok. If you want to know about any long term side effects, you should go for LFT (Liver function test) and KFT (kidney function test). Regarding 72 hrs concern, it is nothing but they keep under observation when you go immediately after ingestion, they keep under observation so that any adverse symptom can be treated timely.
