ESR is a marker of inflammation and is slow to respond to improving inflammation. It improves slowly. Avoid red meat completely. When you eat proteins like dals then again try to keep it within normal requirements for a healthy person. Protein overload worsens gout. Also avoid alcohol as well. Drink good amount of water. Get followed up by a Rheumatologist regularly for your gout. Hope this helps. Dr Vinu Raj Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon MBBS MRCS FRCS(Trauma&Orth)

High ESR indicates an ongoing inflammation. In your case it may be due to uncontrolled Gout. Kindly consult an Orthopaedic or Rheumatologist & they'll guide you further.
