There are atleast 5 inflamed papillae on back of my tongue. It heals on its own but comes back when I eat spicey food, then it causes pain too. Is this normal or something more serious? I also have acidity problem but that is under control now. Just wanted to make sure if it is not oral cancer or something more serious to look into..

Don't panic, going by your age and history does not seems to be something grave to worry about. Get examined by an ENT specialist and then if needed as per his/her adv move the ladder upwards to an oncogist.
