Hypothyroidism with TSH 14.12
Hi, Iam a lactating mother of 5 months old baby and my TSH is 14.12 as on todays date(.report attached). During pregnancy I got hypothyroidism and the TSH level was less than 10 and I took medication during pregnancy.but now the level is increased.Does breastfeeding effect TSH level and when will it become normal. Shall I continue the thyroid medication again as 50 mg per day

Pregnancy and breast feeding are high Thyroid requirement times. That is why your TSH levels are raised to meet your baby and your Thyroid needs, T3 and T4 are normal. Please increase to 75mcgm for 2 months then repeat the test. Your Thyroid hormone levels may become normal also after Pregnancy and Lactation as need is reduced.
