I am writing this to convey my message to all General surgeon. Just because corporate insurance cover all biopsy test, that does mean you guy can do biopsy for amy surgery u do. Biopsy results take 5 7 days to comes and u can not imagine stress of paitent for that 5 7 days. Normal cyst can be rules out with just ultrasound and surgery. Please try to understand level of anxities and stress paitent go thought. Please do biopsy only when it iw extremely required.

Sending a biopsy is a must if a surgeon removes anything.. even if it's a very Normal looking cyst or mass.. it has nothing to do with corporate insurance Yes it is the treating doctors duty to keep patient informed about it and the need for it.. despite all efforts some patients overthink and became too anxious for no reason

I dont know what basis you have raised this question. As a general surgeon to reach to definitve diagnosis and to further plan surgery a biopsy is necessary in certian cases. The diagnosis like lipoma sebaceous cyst etc are sent for biopsy because many cases of lipoma have turned into malignancy. Secondly the patient can deny sending the sample for biopsy if the patient thinks its not necessary. Thank you
