Will HPV test detect a dormant strain in the body even if the pap smear test is negative and doesnt show any HpV cytology?

Only four strains of HPV are detected by the test. But your question is a bit confusing. If you are HPV negative, why do you feel that you have a dormant HPV strain ? And if you have a dormant HPV strain , let it be there . It can't become active suddenly.

U can test for benign HPV strains 6 and 11 ( low risk ) and 16 and 18 ( high risk )
