How to stop Nexito 5
I have been on Nexito 5 since 1 year and 6 months. I am in the process of tapering. I consulted a doctor few months ago to start the tapering process and  now I am taking 5mg once in 4 days. How can I stop it completely now? Does tapering it this way cause harm to me? Kindly advise.

Dealing with anxiety can be challenging, but there are several effective strategies you can try to manage and alleviate anxiety symptoms. Here are some commonly recommended approaches: Deep Breathing and Relaxation Techniques: Practice deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, or other relaxation techniques to calm your body and mind when anxiety arises. Regular Exercise: Engage in regular physical activity as it helps reduce stress and anxiety by releasing endorphins, improving mood, and promoting overall well-being. Healthy Lifestyle: Maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle by getting enough sleep, eating nutritious meals, limiting caffeine and alcohol intake, and avoiding recreational drugs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Consider seeking therapy from a mental health professional trained in CBT, which helps identify and modify negative thought patterns and behaviors associated with anxiety. Stress Management: Learn and practice stress management techniques, such as time management, prioritization, and effective problem-solving skills. This can help reduce anxiety triggers. Social Support: Reach out to friends, family, or support groups for emotional support. Talking about your concerns with trusted individuals can provide comfort and perspective. Mindfulness and Meditation: Engage in mindfulness practices, such as meditation or yoga, to cultivate awareness of the present moment and develop a more accepting and non-judgmental mindset. Self-Care: Prioritize self-care activities that you enjoy and find relaxing, such as reading, listening to music, taking baths, or engaging in hobbies. Make time for activities that help you unwind and recharge. Limiting News and Social Media: Reduce exposure to excessive news consumption and social media, as they can contribute to anxiety. Set boundaries and take breaks from digital platforms when needed. Professional Help: If anxiety significantly interferes with your daily life or becomes overwhelming, consider seeking professional help. A mental health professional can provide diagnosis, guidance, and appropriate treatment options tailored to your specific needs. Remember, everyone's experience with anxiety is unique, so it may take time to find the strategies that work best for you. Be patient and kind to yourself as you explore different techniques and consider seeking professional support when necessary.

Tapering off a medication like Nexito (escitalopram) is typically recommended to minimize potential withdrawal symptoms and ensure a smooth transition. The process usually involves gradually reducing the dosage over time. It's great that you have consulted a doctor and have been following their guidance thus far. To stop completely, your doctor may suggest further tapering by gradually extending the time between doses, such as taking 5mg every five days, then every six days, and so on. Eventually, you may reach a point where you can discontinue the medication altogether. The specific tapering schedule can vary depending on factors like your individual response to the medication, the duration of treatment, and any underlying medical conditions. Your doctor will consider these factors when determining the appropriate tapering plan for you. Abruptly stopping or reducing the dosage of an antidepressant medication can lead to discontinuation symptoms or a relapse of your original condition. These symptoms may include dizziness, nausea, anxiety, mood swings, and others. Tapering under medical supervision helps minimize the risk of experiencing these withdrawal effects. It's crucial to maintain regular communication with your doctor throughout the tapering process. They can monitor your progress, adjust the tapering schedule if needed, and address any concerns or difficulties you may encounter.
