How to cure high fever in adults

I am 19 year old boy. Since past 2 days I had cold and cough and also temperature. Today the fever has gone high. Even paracetamol is not helping to bring the temperature down. So how to cure high fever in adults? Will cold sponging help? What about cetirizine tablet?
