How long can a 91 year old survive ICU
Hi doctors, My grandfather has been in ICU for 30 days, his age is 91. He was admitted because he was taking long breaths, since then he is in ICU. He also talked to us  in between but was not shifted to the General ward. Why? I have taken leave from my work to look after him but I can't take it for  long. Can someone please tell me that for how long can a person survive in ICU? Shouldn't a person be shifted to General Ward when their condition improves?

Shifting from ICU to General Ward depends on a lot of parameters. All of them needs detailed evaluation before transferring to General Ward.
