I understand your concern about the elevated SGOT and SGPT levels. Homeopathy, in general, does not have side effects like traditional medications, and it is designed to stimulate your body’s healing process gently. The alcohol content in homeopathic medicines is minimal and unlikely to have any significant impact on the liver, especially when taken in the prescribed doses. However, to better understand your situation, could you please share the reason why you were taking homeopathic treatment? This will help in evaluating the prognosis of your condition, including any potential liver involvement. Rest assured, homeopathy is safe and is known for having no harmful side effects when prescribed correctly. I’m happy to provide you with further guidance.

No, it doesn’t, and here is a mathematical clarification for the same. Homeopathic medicines use alcohol as preservatives and solvents for the medicinal substance. Typically, the standard daily dose of homeopathic medicine is 5-15 drops (0.15-0.45 ml), either diluted in water or taken through inert homeopathic pills made from goat’s milk. Now, let's do the math and understand the reason: ALCOHOL IN HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINE: Daily medicine intake: 5–15 drops = 0.15 ml - 0.45 ml of alcohol. Total medicine intake over 45 days: 6.75 ml - 20.25 ml of alcohol. THRESHOLD FOR LIVER STRESS (SGOT/SGPT IMPACT): Research indicates that over 30 ml of alcohol/day can elevate liver enzymes (SGOT/SGPT) over 45 days, with higher amounts leading to greater liver damage. MATH FOR 45 DAYS: Mild elevation: 675-1350 ml of pure alcohol (1-2 standard drinks/day). Significant elevation: 2700-3375 ml of pure alcohol (4-5 standard drinks/day). Now, comparing the levels above, you are consuming negligible alcohol in the form of solvent/preservative in the homoeopathic medicine than what would even remotely impact your liver's SGOT/SGPT levels. If still, you saw the elevation then there are definitely the other factors—such as pre-existing liver conditions, medications, or diet which you have not evaluated yet.

Please be assured that the alcohol content in homoeopathic medications is highly diluted, rendering it incapable of causing adverse effects or harm to any of your organs. Many-a-time, patients may experience a temporary exacerbation of existing symptoms after taking homoeopathic medicine, known as “homoeopathic aggravation”. This is often regarded as a ‘positive response’ by the body to the remedy.
Next Steps
To better understand your situation, could you please clarify the purpose for which you were taking homoeopathic medicine? Was it prescribed by a physician or were you self-medicating?

Your response will enable me to provide more tailored guidance and support. Regards.
