Hiv relate query
Hi Doc , One of my friends is a hiv positive and he is undetectable from the past 4 years and he is married. Since they are planning for a baby he decided to go for an iui or Ivf so that it will not spread to his wife . Also is not in the condition to disclose his status to his wife My question is - since he is undetectable and wants to go for an iui or Ivf  is it 100% safe? 2nd question - If he doesn't want to disclose his status to wife during the iui or Ivf then will the doctor disclose it to his wife ? 3rd question if he doesn't want to disclose will doctor deny to perform an iui

Hi..a man with HIV and an undetectable viral load for 4 years can safely father a child through IVF with sperm washing. However, not disclosing his HIV status to his wife is ethically and legally problematic. Informed consent is essential in any medical procedure, especially reproductive ones. Most fertility clinics require both partners to be fully informed and in agreement before proceeding. He should disclose his status to his wife with professional support and explore safe, medically supervised options for conception.
