High Uric Acid Level After Crash Diet
Hello Doctor, I’m a 25-year-old male and recently completed a 7-day crash diet that was very low in calories and almost no carbs. Today, my blood test showed a high uric acid level of 8.7 mg/dL (normal <7.0). My kidney function is normal, and I have no major symptoms except for occasional mild finger pain. I’m concerned if this spike in uric acid could be due to the crash diet and dehydration. Is this condition likely temporary and reversible with lifestyle changes? What steps should I take now to bring my uric acid back to normal and avoid complications? Thank you for your advice.

Yes. This is likely due to the dietary change. You might have followed a keto- diet with higher protein and less carbs which can result in this. It is very much temporary and should get back to normal without any need of any medicines Avoid Sugar sweetened beverages, alcohol, red meat and focus on being physically active to complement your diet
