High sgpt and sgot
Hello
I am 8 months pregnant and 10 days before my sgpt and sgot was 70 and 63 and bile serum was 16 , I was having itching on soles and palms and doctor prescribed me udiliv tab 3 times a day and asked to repeat the test , today I got my test done my sgpt and sgot is 181 and 127 and alp is 174 and coming to cbc my platelets is 1.33 lacks and kft is normal
Bile serum report is yet to come but my question is after taking medicine why sgpot and sgot increased double fold

A rise in SGOT/SGPT just after starting UDCA is common and doesn't mean the medicine has failed. Ursodeoxycholic acid takes a few weeks to bring down bile acids and itching. Your liver numbers can climb a little before they start settling, especially this late in pregnancy. Itching on your palms and soles together with rising liver enzymes points to cholestasis of pregnancy, which needs close watching in your third trimester.

Please see your obstetrician promptly to go over today's results and the pending bile acid report. They may adjust your UDCA plan and monitor you more closely, including deciding the right time for delivery.
