High fasting blood glucose levels
Dear doctor my father's glycemic control throughout the day with Apidra and Lantus is quite good and remains normal. But as he takes 3U of apidra with lesser amount of carbs any day the blood sugar drops to 80-90 mg/dL within 2 hours. Then to prevent any chance of hypoglycemia at night during sleep he took 3 milk caramel chocolates and after that when I measured the morning fasting sugar after 8 hours the blood sugar spiked from 80 to 234 mg/dL. I don't know the reason behind this. Please explain and provide necessary suggestions for the same.

If sugar report are consistently low then need to reduce the insulin dose. Taking chocolates has raised the fasting sugars. So it’s better to reduce the reduce the insulin dose.
