Hiccups from 5 years
Hello doctors, need help for my grandfather as he is having hiccups from 5years and that will be there for 2 days or more and will have rest for min 15 to max half a day.
He is 78 years old and is a diabetic and we had taken all the tests and he is perfectly alright except this hiccups.
Please suggest me some thing and is there a way of doing surgery and what are the effects do we face later from that surgery.

Hiccups are sudden, involuntary contractions of the diaphragm muscle. As the muscle contracts repeatedly, the opening between the vocal cords snaps shut to check the inflow of air and makes the hiccup sound. Irritation of the nerves that extend from the neck to the chest can cause hiccups.
