My Brother in law diagnosed with Viral Hepatitis where his Sgot & Sgpt was 1400/1500 which increased to 3400/3600 respectively as hospital team says it normally happens in the case of Hepatitis case. He is a regular alcoholic person His symptoms are - Vomiting sensation, abdominal pain, fever, fatigue Question - Does sgot and sgpt increase in the course of treatment of Viral Hepatitis

If the enzymes are increasing , then the cause of hepatitis had to be established first. So that the exact treatment of the cause can be done , then only the enzymes will start falling down. To comment further, I need to know his sensorium, INR, complete LFT report, CBC and ultrasound report

do viral markers testing( Hbs Ag, anti HCV), IgM anti HAV and HEV, cultures blood and urine. he should refrain from taking alcohol.

Yes sgot and sgpt increases in thousands in viral hepatitis And it usually resolves in period of 2 weeks to 1 month gradually
