Hematology - Reason of high platelets??
Will it be better if only hematology doctor replies this question? My mother have arthritis, she always have high platelets since we started checking that from 3 years. They comes down by medicine. She is not on continues medicine due to acute gastritis. She had done many tests & doctor has written there results in prescription attached, PFA. She forgets to ask in all consultations whats the reason of constant high Platelets.  So i just want to know the 'reason' of always high. Please tell me whats the 'reason', is it because of arthritis??

She is already diagnosed with Essential thrombocytosis. I hope your previous doctor had done every other test to make the diagnosis. Her bone marrow is making more platelets. Do not discontinue the medications as it will lead to thrombotic complications . Be in a regular follow up with your hematologist.
