Help me! Tailbone area pain?
2 weeks back, if you notice the slight pinkish line between two arrows, it was more pinkish and it was severely itchy(itchy as if you have scratched it hard, and when you done with itching it burns). So, that reduced gradually and it is like this now. But problem is tissue in that area is sore/tender now. Is this a fungal infection or pilonidal disease? Can the disease exist without a cyst and hole in the cleft? When I squeeze my buttocks, my tailbone area feels painful. I am in the UK, and i got an appointment with the GP after next two weeks :(. I am scared as the pain persisted so long. To ensure if it's coming from bone, i pressed bone hard but no pain, but when i pull the cleft muscle sideways, it is painful. Right now i am on paracetamol since yesterday but not much relief. Also I googled it and am anxious about tailbone cancer(chordoma) now :(. Being alone and not being able to contact doctor is scaring me! Please help :(

Hi, First of all - kindly stop going yo google with your symptoms, it will be easy on your mind. Secondly, it is quite difficult to comment on the images, as what eyes can see cannot be seen on photos. If there is a discharge present / soiling of your undergarments on this area- there could be a possibility of pilonidal sinus. In case of pain in tailbone area- if there has been a history of trauma then xray would be required to look at the coccyx bone. And lastly you can keep a cushion/ something soft below your buttocks if you sit for long hours. And sit slowly rather than just landing on the chair/stool
Next Steps
Continue with paracetamol till you get your appointment with GP and fan use some talc if you sweat profusely. Look for signs of discharge/spotting. Use a cushion/ soft pillow beneath your buttocks and sit on that
Health Tips
If there is a discharge, we need to be careful for infection and the development of pilonidal sinus.
