Thanks for your intresting query. I will write in detail how to perform this test to asses your Hair fall step by step. This is called 60 seconds Hair Count Test which can give you fair idea about your Hair Fall and if you need further testing or consultation.
Next Steps
STEPS : 1] Shampoo your hair for 2-3 days before counting (as hair fall is more on the day you wash ) 2] On the day you count, Comb your hair starting from Crown to forehead and sides and back .Let the hair fall on a white towel or wash basin so that you can easily count the fallen hair. 3] After 60 seconds of combing , count the total number of hair that falls on the towel. 4] Repeat this procedure once a week for 3-4 weeks . CONCLUSION: With this method, number of hair fall upto 10-20 is considered normal and anything more than that requires further testing and evaluation.
Health Tips
There are many other tests that a doctor does to confirm if you have abnormal hair fall or hair loss like HAIR PULL TEST, Density examination, etc. In case you feel you have either increased hair fall or loss of density or increased gaps between scalp hair, I recommend you consult a qualified dermatologist for proper evaluation and treatment. All the best. Regards, Dr Jeetendra Khatuja (Mumbai)
