Gunk,water coming from eye of 5 mnth old
My baby was born on seven month fifteen days. she is now of five months.
from past few days yellow gunk and water is coming from her left eye. i think her eye itches because she sometimes keeps on rubbing the eyes. we also suspect that her eyes becomes small in size.
kindly help on this.

Hi
The discharge in eyes of newborns to infants is usually due to Naso lacrimal duct obstruction which is due to infection.It needs proper massage from medial part of the eye to Nasal bridge down along side of the nose.It is like 7 shape from eye to Nose.Added to that mild dosage of Antibiotics will help to reduce infection.Massage shine done with clean hands without nails while feeding the baby as many time as anyone can.Can consult online for further instructions
