Hi, oral prophylaxis (cleaning) depends upon the amount of deposits one has on their teeth. your dentist will be able to guide you better what kind of treatment you need. If the deposits are not severe then simple routine cleaning will be sufficient but if the deposits are deep inside the sulcus(crevice between teeth and gum) and depending on the amount of destruction of bone and soft tissue,dentist will decide whether deep cleaning or flap surgery is required.
