My Grandmother repeats the same thing again and again, she tells lot of lies and she refuses to bath, forgets her stiching needle everytime and search for it daily, adamant. She tells bad about family to others. Some times she acts..

Dr lakshmi clinical & neuro psychologist Considering the age of the patient the complaints are may be suggestive of Alzheimer's disease. Better to consult a neurologist for proper diagnosis and for management

As she is very old , we cant apply counselling properly. But in home u must talk to her and do not urgu with her but give her time and only good talks. If this talking havits are present from long before then it can't be tackle in one day. U must have patience .

Hello, I think let's plz understand her condition before commenting and deciding the management 1. Repetition of speach, actions, thoughts etc may be related to some dysfunction in a specific area of brain and may be a chemical imbalance in the brain. 2. What you suggest as lies may or may not be lying it may be a distorted understanding of truth or reality contact distortion. Or may be the memory loss may be contributing to seemingly changed understanding and stating of reality or truth se per your understanding. 3. Refusal to bath may be related to poor self care and inability to carry out simple tasks. 4. Forgetting and a frantic search definitely point towards a significant memory impairment. 5. Saying negative things about family may be related to brain damage which may be age related or shrinkage of brain and associated chemical imbalance in brain. Hence she may be suffering from a clinical condition like Dementia. Hence please consult a Psychiatrist or a Neurologist near you for detailed assessment, investigation, and further treatment.
