Got syphilis in span of 10 months
My friend went to Canada on a work permit , as to work in the hotel industry after  returning to India he was tested positive for vdrl and tpha . Means he got syphilis . Although he is asymptomatic. No rash, chancres, fever nothing But he was feeling tired and weak . Having night sweats was not able to sleep . But we thought it might be jetlag. He states that he never got sexually involved there. But he was injured 3 times , once  a  severe burn on his hand which resulted in watery discharge  out of it and once his toe nail got injured  as wood loft fell on his feet and once he fell down and his arm's skin was scratched Also he was working in room service where you even had to pick drug syringes of people too as in canada drugs are common. So my main concern is . Can syphilis transfer non sexually . If yes then how ? And can it transmit to anyone in his family ? What all precautions should be taken. Is it curable ? What is the probability of syphilis to return after getting cured?

Yes treatable but again wit good monitoring.. Based on his history it looks more likely from Syringes/needles of drug being cause.. It's transfrd by body fluids from one person to another .. and if it has to transfer wit families again the same rule applies

First it could have got transmitted through infected syringes if he had accidentally pricled Secondly it cannot be transmitted into family unless he kisses or make sexual contact or do blood transfusion Thirdly it’s treatable completely Now along with above test get HIV protocol and Hepatitis C and B also test done. Consult a dermatologist asap for treatment
