It's an inherited metabolic disorder in which there is elevated levels of certain amino acids, a component of protein. When it accumulates it causes impact on neurological tissue which retards the brain tissue growth and maintenance. Pediatric neurologists and paediatricians who specialise in metabolic disorders can help in managing the condition. Nutritional management by a trained nutritionist and Dietitian is also necessary. You may enquire with NIMHANS ( National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) , a government institution for possible management of the same.
