Gallbladder removal surgery
My mother is 67 years old and has few gallstones size 6mm.. She can't go under general anesthesia as she has lung fibrosis and severe sleep apnea.. Can Gallbladder removal surgery be done by laser or something under local anesthesia? Is it possible

Firstly, if the stones were detected just as a part of routine check up you don't need to get it operated. The guidelines say that there is no need to get asymptomatic gallstones to get operated If she is having symptoms suggestive of gall stones then and only then is surgery required Sadly laparoscopic cholecystectomy cannot be done under local anaesthesia as the pneumoperitoneum causes strain over the lungs which needs general anaesthesia for support However you can opt for open cholecystectomy which can also be done under spinal epidural anaesthesia Hope this clears your doubt
