Gall stones can lead to many serious problems like obstructive jaundice, acute pancreatitis etc. but the basic disease is in the gall bladder where these stones form. Solitary asymptomatic gall stones may not need surgery, but you should keep it under regular follow up. The Surgical option has always been to remove the gall bladder with its contents including stones in it since the time of only open surgery till date. If clinically indicated, and symptomatic, that is the only option, at present mostly laparoscopically . You may not agree and may not sign a consent for surgery. Your surgeon will respect it. But, removing only stones from gall bladder as felt just and asked by some patients is not an acceptable option.

Hi if she doesn't have upper abdominal pain / discomfort/ post meal fullness then Removal of gall stone not indicated. In western literature they have mentioned that a single stone more than 2.5 cms needs removal as chances of gall bladder cancer risk is more than general population. There is no way to dissolve gall bladder stone. Laparoscopic surgery is a safe surgery. Feel free to ask any quary related to this anytime.
