Frequent Hives and Angioedema
Hi doctor, I am trying to understand my dad's condition who is having hives, itching and angioedema from last three months. We got the blood allergy test done and which showed his is allergic to dust, coackroach and capsicum. We also got a patch test done that was negative. He has been put on Allegra and oxepic. He is diabetic (hba1c 8.1) and hypertension patient. We also got ANA done which was negative. During these episodes he IGE levels are raised. What else I should do to find the cause. You have already found the allergens. Also he is taking drugs for the same. Nothing else need to be done apart from avoiding allergens. In severe cases corticosteroids, epinephrine may be required. In chronic cases Immunosuppressants and Biologics may be required.
