It's quite possible that the child might be using mobile excessively. Due to which he is having dryness Please restrict mobile usage and involve yourself with him in playful physical activities . And put some lubricant eye drops eg teardrops 3to 4times daily and ocupol.dx eye oint to be rubbed twice daily on lids.

Yes madam, its important that he has an eye check up. Our centre is open. Either it could be a foreign body or he may require glasses due to power. To rule out these a visit to the clinic is essential. 080 - 41225574

Hello, It is probably because of dryness or some allergy. Start using E/d Genteal 4 times/d . If redness or frequent rubbing is there , needs eye clinic visit to rule out allergy.
Next Steps
Avoid frequent rubbing of his eyes. Hand hygiene is important too. cold compression twice a day will relieve itching till you are able to visit eye hospital.
Health Tips
younger child will not tell about vision, need to check refraction as a part of routine checkup. visiting eye clinic would be best for now.

It can be because of allergy or dry eyes. Please do make a note whether he frequently rubs his eyes as well which will indicate that it's allergic.
