Food Pipe Through Nose
Good Morning, My mother was not eating properly from past  couple of days, due to which food pipe was inserted through her nose for a week now. Kindly advise that; 1. for how many days the same food pipe can be kept as it is, or do we need to change the pipe after some time if she remains not able to eat from her mouth? 2. Is it possible to feed her through her mouth besides the food pipe if she shows willingness to eat any time? Your prompt response would be highly appreciated. Thanks, Regards, Mahmood.

Good morning. Not been able to eat through mouth means there is some major issue . So nasal tube feeding to continue till the cause is found out and cured and if she is accepting the feed through mouth then nasal feeding will stop. I need to know more about your mother condition. Nasal tube need to be changed only if it’s blocked otherwise springing will keep it functional . No need to change but depends how long the nasal feeding has to continue as per the condition on mother

Depending on her condition, food pipe may be removed at a later day.however it should usually be replaced in 2 to 3 weeks Its important to clean it well as per instructions, after every feed or ekse it will gwt blocked. As for food through the mouth   one needs to assess if she is able to swallow,if not,she may choke on the water or food.
