I had ischeorectal abscess surgery 1 year ago. I am having small discharge in that area and feel like it's small hole. Is this fistula? Can that hole be treated with laser and how much time required for recovery if I undergo laser treatment.

If there is a discharging sinus, it can be fistula or pilonidal sinus or an abscess pocket . You need to get it examined. And yes , if fistula it can be treated my VAAFT.

Hi...
This is Dr.Harsha, consultant Gastrointestinal and Minimal access Surgeon from Bangalore,
From the description that you have provided I understand that you had surgery for an insecure rectal for abscess 1 year ago and have now developed A fistula which is discharging pus.
Firstly I would like to to examine that area to confirm that it is a fistula.
Next Steps
first we would like to get a transrectal ultrasound scan to look for the length and the characterizations of the fistula.
if we find A fistula in ano then it can be operated by laser surgery which is a daycare procedure with discharge the same day.
Health Tips
continue Sitz Bath , get a transrectal ultrasounds scan to look for fistula
