Hello
Okay so basically silver amalgam fillings used to rule dentistry around 20 to 30 years back. These are the most durable and long-lasting fillings. But they lead to slight amount of continuous mercury release into the body due to which their use is now obsolete. Very rarely these are done nowadays in clinical practice. The most popular and common fillings done today are the composite laser fillings which are absolutely tooth colored. They do not have any health hazard, but yes they may not be as long-lasting as silver amalgam fillings.
But when it comes to health definitely composites are way better than the silver amalgam fillings.
Moreover for doing a silver amalgam filling more tooth structure needs to be removed which is not the case for a composite filling.
Next Steps
You need to visit a dentist, get the tooth properly checked- that would decide the type of filling to be done or which filling would be best for that particular tooth.
